Beth Rice Named Dragstrip Manager For The Auto Club Dragway

Beth Rice has been promoted to the position of dragstrip manager of the Auto Club Dragway at the Auto Club Speedway, Speedway President Gillian Zucker announced today.

“We are excited to have Beth assume this new position,” said Zucker.  “She has a great deal of experience, is well respected in the drag racing community, and is exactly what we need to help take the Auto Club Dragway to even greater heights.”

Rice becomes just the fifth woman to currently hold the position of dragstrip manager at a National Hot Rod Association-sanctioned track of which there are over 140 such tracks.

Rice, who brings over 15 years of experience in drag racing, joined the Auto Club Dragway staff as an assistant in 2007.  Prior to her tenure with the Auto Club Dragway staff, she served in various roles within the NHRA Northwest and Pacific Divisions.

“Beth's knowledge of the sport makes her a great addition to our team,” added Mike Yurick, Senior Director of Operations for the Auto Club Speedway.  “Several new and exciting events have been added to the schedule for 2008 and under Beth's direction those events will only add to the growing racer and fan base that the Auto Club Dragway currently enjoys.”

The next event hosted at the Auto Club Dragway will be the Pacific Street Car Association Spring Break Shootout over the weekend of March 14-16.

In November of 2005, the Automobile Club of Southern California signed a multi-year entitlement agreement for the quarter-mile Auto Club Dragway, home to a very competitive Division 7 NHRA Junior Drag League Racing program and NHRA Street Legal Drag Racing program, both sponsored by the Auto Club.  In addition to these events, the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA SportsNationals, NHRA's Summit Series, NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, the Pacific Street Car Association and Super Categories utilize the drag strip.  The Auto Club Dragway at the Auto Club Speedway is a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) sanctioned track.  For additional information, please call the Auto Club Dragway at 909-429-5060 or (909) 429-5061 or visit www.autoclubspeedway.com/dragway.
