California Speedway Celebrates NASCAR Day
Friday May 18th, NASCAR Day was a busy day for the staff of California Speedway. Nearly 100% of the staff made their $5 contribution to support NASCAR Day and donned the attire of their favorite driver. Speedway President Gillian Zucker made rounds sharing the spirit of NASCAR Day with the Inland Empire community. She began her day with a presentation to Creekview Elementary School in Ontario to celebrate the success of the Kids Fitness Challenge and shared one of her famous cartwheels. Later that afternoon Gillian spent time with Cub Scouts Pack 40 of Redlands Christian School. The scouts, who also purchased pins to support NASCAR Day, toured southern California's home to NASCAR, learned its history, and made plans with their parents to return in September for the NASCAR Labor Day weekend event. The California Legislature passed a resolution declaring May 18, 2007 as NASCAR Day in the State of California. The resolution was authored by California Speedway's own 63rd district Assemblyman Bill Emmerson.
